Sea Dogs to Hire Cameron?

It would appear the Saint John Sea Dogs are looking once again for a proud Islander to lead the team to the promise land.

Gerard Gallant and Mike Kelly did amazing things for the franchise and it would now appear that Dave Cameron might be next in line.

Cameron’s name has surfaced as recently as this week as a possible candidate.

The former NHLer and longtime NHL Coach would be a perfect fit for the young highly touted Sea Dogs.

The 61-year-old has been behind the bench of Vienna Captials for the past two seasons.

Obviously, the rumour mill has been swirling with possible replacements after the Dogs parted ways with Josh Dixon on December 2.

Longtime Sea Dogs Asst Coach Jeff Cowan did a fantastic job as interim Head Coach, but it’s unclear if Cowan is still in the picture.

Cowan brought stability, accountability and ownership to the young team while he was in that role.

One would assume if Cameron is named as Head Coach he would bring in his “own guys.”

One would speculate that possible candidates for the Asst Coaching positions would be someone Cameron is very familiar with, perhaps a former player or a current Asst. Coach within the QMJHL.

There’s a sense that the Sea Dogs will possibly make a decision very soon ahead of arguably the most important draft in franchise history.
