Sea Dogs Should Consider Trading 3rd Overall Pick

Sea Dogs Should Consider Trading 3rd overall pick?

The Saint John Sea Dogs worked their QMJHL Draft Lottery magic once again moving up and landing the 3rd overall selection in the 2020 QMJHL Draft.

Obviously, the already talent laden squad will probably love to welcome another game breaking prospect to their roster or will they?

This could be just what the highly touted Sea Dogs team need to solidify an impact player that could help them fulfill their ultimate goal of returning to the promise land.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to hear that Sea Dogs President and General Manger Trevor Georgie’s phone was ringing off the hook when the Dogs landed the 3rd overall pick.

The Dogs could target one or two veteran impact players for that pick and be on their way to building a championship caliber team for the next two seasons.

What’s the going rate for a 3rd overall pick?

What type of player or players would the Sea Dogs target?

What holes do the Sea Dogs have in their current roster that they could fill with an 18 or 19 year old player that could potentially put them over the top for the next two seasons?

Obviously, the Dogs have a plethora of young talent especially on the backend, but in my opinion they need a shut down hard nosed in your face defenceman that can log massive minutes.

The Dogs have tons of forwards right now, but they still need a shut down two-way checking center that’s hard to play against.

If the Sea Dogs decide to keep the pick they are going to land a fantastic young player that could very well help them in the future, but the future is now for the Sea Dogs.

Now is the time to make a deal to land a veteran or two that puts your organization over the top, the type of trade that inches you closer to a President Cup and Memorial Cup.

It’s let’s make a deal time for Trevor Georgie and the Saint John Sea Dogs.
